Laurie attended Boston University School of Fine Arts in the Theatre Division and started her career in public television production at WGBH in Boston. In the late 70's she moved to New York and became a commercial real estate broker, where she leased office space in midtown Manhattan for ten years.
A serendipitous kayak trip in Canada brought Dary Dunham into her life. Dary's appointment as Head of Indian Mountain School in 1992 brought them to Lakeville, and as Associate Director of Admissions, Laurie welcomed and worked with day and boarding students and their families for most of the 14 years the Dunhams lived and worked there. Most recently she worked as Development Officer at The Community Foundation of NW CT, and she is active as a Board member of The Salisbury Forum and as a volunteer at The Hotchkiss Library of Sharon.
